Welcome to Sweetwater

Dear Parents and Students,

Welcome new students, and welcome back returning students to Sweetwater! I look forward to seeing everyone in person on the first day, XX. Along with Sweetwater Community School, I will also be guiding Night School and PVOnline.  As we all prepare for this upcoming school year, the focus of Sweetwater will be on three initiatives; Strength, Courage, and Success (Positive Behavior Intervention Support), student attendance, and credits earned. Staff will be encouraged to remain committed to providing alternative pathways for student success by daily focusing on these initiatives. It’s important to acknowledge that while success may differ for each student, students must engage by being on time, attending class daily, and participating fully in their assigned classes to ensure academic success. Classes begin at 9:20 a.m., and teachers will acknowledge those students who arrive at class on time. Students who show their Strength, Courage, and Success around campus can enter weekly, monthly, and/or quarterly drawings. Rewards will be given to students who earn S.C.S. cards.

As a reminder, cell phones are not permitted during class unless specifically requested by the teacher.  We hope that by implementing this, we will ensure greater student participation during class time. Additionally, each student will be assigned a mentor teacher to support them throughout the year. During their first-period class, students will participate in Mentor Support on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of each week, wherein they may be asked to attend a class they are struggling with or have a failing grade in. Students will have the opportunity to work 1:1 with a staff member to ensure class success. Sweetwater Community School administration and staff remain dedicated to this initiative, supporting your student(s) to ensure academic achievement.

We seek parents and community members to join Sweetwater's School Council. Our School Council meets monthly, and it is a great way to support and provide valuable input regarding the goings on here at Sweetwater. My commitment is to remain diligent. listen to all voices, and create academic achievement with a student-centered focus. Most meetings will be held virtually on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. As the school year begins, here are a few friendly reminders:

*Sweetwater High School will be holding its Open House on XX, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Ice cream will be served, so meet your student's teachers and the administrative support team. We'd love to see you there!

*Night School begins XX. Teachers will share the meet link with those students enrolled before that date.

*$30.00 Yearly Computer Protection Plan can be paid by cash or check at the front office.
